Snowball Fight - LAP004

We can all relate to having a great snowball fight as kids. Quickly building a fort after a fresh snowfall, and neighbourhood kids joining in the fun. Trying to keep up with making snowballs, as you fire back on the enemy as fast as you can. A great team always helps!

Even though centuries have passed you can still see remnants of aboriginal occupation in the Rockies, in the form of petroglyphs, preserved on cliff walls and rocks. The drawings could have been the result of a vision quest, perhaps, in a time before it was evident that they were a part of a history on the edge.

Spiritual Connections - Raven's Day – FM007

PRODUCT ID: FM007
The celebration of Christmas exists in both the First Nations communities and in the mainstream. The connection that exists between the two sometimes encompasses beliefs that bring us both to the ‘spirit world’; which can bridge both worlds together, especially on that special day. A Raven watches over our worlds and our families.

Northern Sentiments – CK002

Product Code: CK002
We seem to have the best of both worlds living in Canada. It seems that the extremes of summer and winter make us appreciate the other even more. Either, or... nothing rivals tea and a bonfire with the sky enveloped with the Aurora Borealis regardless of the time and the place. As I painted ''Northern Sentiments'' I could almost hear the sounds of the crackling fire and the relaxed conversation of this evening, all those moons ago.

Kwa-Gulth Raven – JH005

The Raven is known as the trickster and tends to be witty and have a great sense of humor. There is a story of the Raven stealing the light which is how we got the sun. That story is depicted here as the Raven with the Sun in his beak. I felt that for one of my first designs it would fitting do depict the creator.

Kwa-Gulth Killer Whale – JH004

Product Code: JH004
The Killer Whale is the most respected and most often depicted sea creature in Kwa-Gulth culture. When I do a design I like to use whatever space I have available. It made me think that by seeing only half the design it gave the appearance of being bigger and whoever was looking at it would have to use their imagination to see the rest of it.

The Perfect Night – CK006

I painted this picture after several trips to Banff and experiencing, first hand, many perfect nights sitting around a campfire. This particular location is near Saskatchewan Crossing between Jasper and Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. After having lived in Banff now for several years there are times when we are closer to wolves and other large animals than one is comfortable with, but nothing compares with the howl of a wolf in the middle of a perfect night.

Kwa-Gulth Bear – JH001

Product Code: JH001
The Bear is looked at to be very wise in the Kwa-Gulth culture. It is said when the Bear hibernates he dreams great dreams and learns many things. When he wakes up after his long sleep he has learned a great deal so is wise beyond his years. I tend to do Bear designs and masks on a regular basis. There are quite a few ways to depict him while still keeping the spirit of the piece.
